"Backroom in Tulsa" - Wesley Morgan

Original Mix

This song immediately struck a chord with me. The funkly blues feel given by the guitar at the very beginning of the song was enough to have me hooked. I knew i could give this a more hiphop infused blues sound.

Re-groove

Here is where I began to play with a new back beat. I created a new drum pattern that was locked in with the slight tempo changes in the original song. This opened up the possibilities for the next addition.

Added Sound Design

Now I had to create a new sound that stood out, but still fits. I used a synth to layer a few different sounds until I created my desired sound. I added this synth in as both a counter melody and some "as-needed ear candy".

Added Live Recording

Here is where things get weird. Instead of recording an instrument that I have no idea how to play, I used my voice. I recorded fillers and adlibs. Lots of vocal mixing and editing were involded before I sparaticly placed the audio throughout the track.
